Last week I had one of the most important interviews of my life (thus far at least). Since I’m graduating from college soon, I recently began the job hunt to launch my career. Oh so exciting (and slightly terrifying)! In my mad frenzy of interview preparation, a few articles suggested using “power stances” and self-affirmations before heading into an interview. Essentially, you stand with powerful body language and say empowering things to boost your confidence and improve your mindset. The best part is that you give this confidence to yourself. You don’t need it from anyone else!
But these tips certainly aren’t exclusive to pre-job interview situations. You can use affirmations in your everyday life to improve your confidence and self-esteem. Self-affirmations put you in the driver’s seat on your self esteem. You have the power to give yourself confidence!
Honestly, it might feel a little awkward at first. Even though I mutter to myself all the time, it felt weird saying such encouraging and empowering things to myself. But even more than the awkwardness of talking to myself in the mirror, I think I feared the words themselves. We simply don’t praise ourselves enough! Maybe this is out of fear of being prideful or fear of being great. But regardless, overcoming the awkwardness of praising and affirming yourself is part of the process!
You can make the affirmation cards yourself or dig into my free printable! To access the PDF, simply click on the image below! I made black and white minimalist versions for easy printing and full-color graphic versions for visual appeal. If you know someone who could use some gorgeous affirmation cards, be sure to share this post with them! I only ask that you credit them back to me if you directly share the PDFs.
Even if you print these off and love them, the most important part about these affirmation cards is making sure that you use them. I try to use them around once a week. On Sunday, I wake up in the morning, pull them out, and speak to myself in the mirror. Yes, it’s totally awkward at first! However, as I’ve mentioned, figuring out and working with that awkwardness is part of the process.
Are you ready to improve your confidence and self-esteem today? Are you ready to be in the driver’s seat of your relationship with yourself? Take charge today and make yourself some gorgeous affirmation cards! And even more importantly, use them as a part of your self-love journey.
