You don’t have to be the world’s most amazing mom, worker, artist, or entrepreneur to love yourself. You don’t even have to be the best at anything for that matter. Self-love is all about acceptance of yourself, regardless of your accomplishments, failures, or titles. While self-love may seem “all the rage” right now, it really is more than just hype.
Self-love is not just another cliché or self-improvement fad. It’s a deep acceptance that has the power to change your life.
But how many of us actually know ourselves well enough and love all of us? I know that I certainly don’t! We all have our own insecurities and fears. And I’m sure you sometimes let yourself be your worst enemy. Our fear of happiness continually sabotages our goals and aspirations. How many dreams have you left unfulfilled because you were too afraid to fail? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve questioned my blogging path because I’m afraid that I’m not good enough. I’m insecure that my writing, ideas, and purpose aren’t competitive and insightful enough to make it in an oversaturated market of blogging.
But self-love lets us feel security from within; regardless of external circumstances. Self-love empowers us with confidence, security, and deep acceptance of ourselves. Self-love dares you to do more and be more. It will empower you to take risks. And even if you aren’t happy with the outcome, you’ll still be happy with yourself. Because your external circumstances won’t diminish your self-worth.
They say that self-love is the root of all love. And it’s beyond true. If you love yourself, you can give more to your other relationships. Having security and self-acceptance will help you be a better partner, friend, and mother. You can share that love with others. It will be infections! Not only will people be drawn to your inner confidence, but they might just gain some themselves.
Don’t you feel like it’s time to be fearlessly, beautifully, and unapologetically yourself? Because I promise you: you deserve it. Self-love isn’t just a cliché or an elegant quote. It’s the love that will completely and utterly transform your life for the better.Transform your life today with the power of self-love! It’s more than a cliche Click To Tweet
But the best thing about self-love…
Self-love is a journey—not a destination. And you’re in the driver’s seat.
Even if you’re convinced that it’s time to transform yourself and your life with self-love, where do you even begin? Well, self-love is a lifelong journey—not a destination. It’s truly an endless process and not necessarily an easy one (at first). The path of self-love requires dedication, commitment, and especially forgiveness. But the best part is that you are in the driver’s seat. You have complete control over your path of self-love.
I think the best (and easiest) place to start is with your knowledge of yourself. You can’t start to love yourself unless you know who you are! So who are you? What makes you unique? What are your dreams? And what are your fears? Take time to get to know yourself. Personally, I found this personality assessment to be a game changer. I learned the nature of my personality and how I can use qualities of my personally to bring out the best in me and start to love myself.
Take Care of Yourself
You’ll also need to prioritize yourself. Self-care is more than a manicure or a hot bath now and again. You need multidimensional self-care to have a wholesome routine that takes care of all of you. Identify your needs and find ways that you can meet them yourself. While we need the support and love of others, it’s equally important to find support and love within yourself. Perhaps that includes finding more me-time during the day, designating more quality time with your significant other or close friends, or a regimented morning/nightly routine to start and end your day right.
Since self-love in a continuing journey, it’s important to constantly learn for growth. Follow blogs and social media accounts dedicated to self-love and self-improvement. Find books and other resources to read up on how to continue your journey. Be sure to talk to others about your path and confide in friends with your struggles and places for improvement. Learn from self-loving role models in your life to seek their advice and mentorship.
As you learn more, teach others how to start their own journey of self-love. Not only will you encourage and inspire others, but you’ll find the process equally, if not more, rewarding for yourself. Don’t fool yourself into thinking that you don’t deserve self-love or self-care. Self-love isn’t selfish! And you absolutely deserve it.
