This summer kicked my coffee cravings into high gear! The hot weather always leaves me wanting a refreshing beverage. During the summer (or most of the year), I love to spend my days off window shopping with a nice glass of iced coffee. It’s a mindless way to beat the heat, but stay up and moving.
Even though I’m not actually shopping, constantly buying coffee gets expensive. As an alternative, I love to make my own coffee beverages at home. Recently, I started making hot coffee with my French press and cooling it with ice. After it cools a bit, I pour it into a glass jug and keep it in the fridge to curb my caffeine cravings.
I usually try to enjoy just black coffee to keep my sugar content low. Though sometimes I want to indulge in a bit of a sweeter treat. A while back, I bought a bottle of vanilla syrup and just recently ran out. But like buying coffee at coffee shops, buying syrups gets expensive. So I decided to make some of my own today!
This syrup is just a slight twist on simple syrup. In addition, it’s beyond easy to make and requires only 3 ingredients! I bought the container from the dollar store a while ago and thought it would be great for this recipe! It makes the syrup easy to pour and measure. Just drizzle a little in your coffee for a perfect slight sweetness to brighten your summer day!
How do you usually take your coffee? What’s your usual summertime craving? Have you tried to make your own coffee syrups? Let me know!
